Working with Peter & Warren at the fabulous rustic boutique guest house Dar Tal-Kaptan (The Captain’s House www.gozohomestays.com) in Ghasri Gozo. I can promise a week of relaxation, fun and learning,  Dar Tal-Kaptan offers a luxury level of comfort and finish, within its eclectic, creative, rustic charm, which you can’t fail to be inspired by. With its heady decor, typical limestone interior and it’s lush rich garden overlooking the terraced fields of the valley, it truly is a compelling refuge and challenge for both artists or photographers.

Peter & Warren have created a tasteful idyl, albeit their personal taste can sometimes seem a little risqué (Peter’s sculptures are filled with whimsical eroticism) both have an eye for artful nudity.

ABOUT THE COURSE:

Bob will be in attendance during all workshops to offer advice and tutor on techniques, materials, colour theory and composition.

Free tea & coffee and will be available during all workshop sessions.

Artists will be able to work in a group and solo as and when appropriate.

Figure/life drawing may include either a male or female nude model subject to availability.

Weather conditions may demand alternative arrangements to Pleinair excursions, although Gozo enjoys extremely favourable climate and November is usually very pleasant and often warm enough to enjoy a swim and catch some of the Mediterranean sun.

THE ROOMS:

SERENITY: Accommodates 3 persons. (Choose between: 1 Double + 1 Single OR 3 Singles)

Access is via a secret stairwell of kisses; this jewel accented Zen hideaway is a seamless fusion of Asian calm and Mediterranean wellbeing. Dissolve into memory a foam mattress that conforms to your body and wake up to a walk-in power shower. Have a cup of herbal tea on your own private terrace with breath taking valley views and a peek of the sea framed by the nearby lighthouse above.

Interesting fact: This suite is only a year old, having been built by local craftsmen using old limestone slabs. Most of the artefacts have been collected from our combined travels in the far east.

TRANQUILITY: Accommodates 3 persons. (Choose between: 1 Double + 1 Single OR 3 Singles).

Arched vaults, limestone flagstones original Maltese and Gozitan artwork, stone niches and cane colonial furniture combine to ensure that your stay in this suite is as tranquil and stress free as can be. An annexe (which can be cordoned off to accommodate an extra bed and increased privacy) features a kitchenette, lounge and dining area plus access to two terraces with pool and sheltered valley views.

Interesting fact: The stained glass feature on the wall in the annexe mimics the actual dovecote (now another lighting feature) in the library.

This room is the cosiest in winter and naturally coolest in summer, sandwiched as it is between floors. It is the most easily accessible suite in the house itself.

NOSTALGIA: Accommodates 2 persons on a Double Bed

Featuring authentic antique fin de siècle furniture, a solid brass bed, old patterned Maltese tiles and a Victorian bathtub in a curtained alcove near your bed, this romantic suite is nostalgic in every sense. Shower to an amazing view or sink into a scented bath and soak your aches away.

Interesting fact: The bathtub is situated in what was once the birthing room in the house whilst the swish of curtain fabric cordoning the area was sourced from Valle d’Aosta in the Italian Alpine region.

FANTASY: Accommodates 3 persons. (Choose between: 1 Double + 1 Single OR 3 Singles)

Driftwood beach meets colourful candy store in this whimsical, magical suite which comes with its own spacious and private courtyard and access to a large sun terrace with country views. This suite consists of a mini flat-let with separate bedroom, lounge and kitchenette and bathroom and can be rented out as a self-catering apartment with access to swimming pool.

Interesting fact: Where this brand new suite is now located, used to be a sunken garden. The original pine furniture has been custom distressed by a local furniture designer.
